Does using the Vim Emulator reduce PyCharm functionality?

I am a Vim user, so I decided to turn on the Vim Emulator ("Tools" > "Vim Emulator"). I tried to follow along with Kenneth Love during his first PyCharm video and found that some PyCharm functionality was not working (e.g., display of function signature, auto-complete typing, Optimize Imports).
