You probably want a descendant selector here. You won't need the ">" symbol, that's for selecting direct children, and the links are not direct children of the nav element.

But you will need to indicate the links as the select targets by placing their tag name ("a") after nav and separated by a space.

let navigationLinks = document.getElementsByTagName('nav > ');

The problem with this line of code is that it will select elements based on their TagName, so suppose you wanted to select all the elements with tag name "nav" , then you should have written document.getElementsByTagName("nav"), but you are using "nav > " inside parentheses, which is a css selector and not a tag name, well it is also not a css selector, correct css selector would be "nav > a" . So think about what mistake you are making
