I have gotten confused with how to add all of these together
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";
var userName = id.toUpperCase();
var userName += + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();

34,055 PointsYou're close to having it. In your last line, you should not add the var keyword again - in doing so you are essentially overwriting the previous value. Also, you should not have the concatenation operator (+) preceding the string "#". Using the += operator is sufficient to add it to the current value and adding I believe adding the additional one will cause a syntax error.
userName += "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();
