Doubt regarding 'if' statement

say I have a code : 

var x = 5;
if ( x ) 
{ alert("That is correct") }

When I execute this , the alert "That is correct" is played out , but what does if(x) actually mean ? , I thought that inside the () of an if statement there must be a condition that is either true or false , but what does if(x) mean and why is it true ? , how can it be false ?

Usually you want to put a condition comparing x to something like is greater or equal to. ( > ===), but in that case a positive integer is truthy so the if block code is ran. If x is 0 then the condition is falsey and the code is skipped.
