Empty db tables after db:seed

I'm using Laravel 5.8. I had to call App\Author::create and \App\Book::create in both seeder classes otherwise my tables remained empty

      public function run()
    {
        \App\Book::create(['title' => 'test', 'author_id' => 1,
        'abstract'=> 'test']);
        factory(\App\Book::class, 10)->create();
    }
