Emulator not starting

Every time I try to start the AVD , it shows an error saying,, emulator: ERROR: x86 emulation currently requires hardware acceleration! Please ensure Intel HAXM is properly installed and usable. CPU acceleration status: HAX kernel module is not installed! whats this

I had the same problem and spent two days trying to understand what it was and fixing it. Well I just could not as eventually I discovered that my computer did not support it and resolved to plug my mobile phone with the USB cable and use it as the emulator (which works fine).
