Error in showFactButton

I am geeting an error in this code :-

//Declare our view variables and assign the views from the layout file

        final TextView factLabel = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.factTextview);
        Button showFactButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.showFactButton);
        View.OnClickListener listener = new View.OnClickListener() {
            @Override
            public void onClick(View v) {
                String fact = "Ostriches can run faster than horses";
                factLabel.setText(fact);

            }
        };
        showFactButton.setOnClickListener(listener);

Error is :- "Error:(33, 59) error: cannot find symbol variable showFactButton"

Which line is causing this error?

If it is this one:

Button showFactButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.showFactButton);

check that your activity has a button in it with the lines:

<Button
android:id="@+id/showFactButton
.
.
. />"

If it is this line:

showFactButton.setOnClickListener(listener);

then I'm confused! Maybe add a final keyword prior to the declaration in the first line?

Let me know how you get on.

Steve.

Thanks for help dude
