JavaScript JavaScript and the DOM (Retiring) Making Changes to the DOM DOM Manipulation

Finally, append the newParagraph element to contentDiv

what am i not doing right pease?

app.js
var contentDiv = document.getElementById('content');
var newParagraph = document.createElement('p');
newParagraph.className = 'panel';
newParagraph.appendChild('contentDiv');
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
        <title>DOM Manipulation</title>
    </head>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
    <body>
        <div id="content">

        </div>
        <script src="app.js"></script>
    </body>
</html>

Hi Eniola, You were very close to solving this one! The .appendChild appends the variable it is passed to the variable it is applied to, and it also doesn't need quotation marks on the variable. So, you just needed to switch the newParagraph and contentDiv variables in the final statement and remove the ' ' on the contentDiv. So basically like this:

var contentDiv = document.getElementById('content');
var newParagraph = document.createElement('p');
newParagraph.className = 'panel';
contentDiv.appendChild(newParagraph);

Hope this helps! Dylan
