So the challenge is expecting the variable inputValue
to be set by the time it evaluates your code. Since you're not actually setting the value until the user clicks the button the challenge fails. Try setting the value of inputValue
outside the scope of your event listener.
As an additional note, I notice that you're forgetting the camel case on linkName
. That will cause your textInput
variable to return null
as the browser won't know about an element with the id of linkname
.
