Python Python Basics (2015) Logic in Python Try and Except

def add(x, y): return (float(x + y)) add(1, 2)

I wrote this code. It worked in the python workspace but does not work here. Where did i go wrong?

    return (float(x + y))

Might just be the challenge but the below code seems to work

def add(x,y):
    return float(x)+float(y)
