Accidentally left out some of the code.

array.rb 
grocery_list = ["milk", "eggs", "bread", "ice cream", "potatoes", "pie"]

grocery_list.first_item[0]

To access elements in an array you need to use it's index. For example:

animals = ["duck", "goose", "rabbit"]
first_element = animals[0]
# first_element = "duck"
