it says it doesn't recognize the first line anymore
name = str("Gregory")
subject = "Treehouse loves {} {} " .format(name)

# There should not be a space between " .format()
# Also you only need 1 set of {}
subject = "Treehouse loves {}".format(name)

3,367 Pointsi did name = "Gregory " but when i went to the next step it changed it to name = str("Gregory ") which I thought was odd but figured it didn't matter....what fixed it? Removing the str or removing the second {}?

# this was your line
subject = "Treehouse loves {} {}" .format(name)
# removing the extra {} would make the challenge fail
# notice the space between the last quotationmark " .format()
# this might make it fail too (but not sure)
subject = "Treehouse loves {}" .format(name)
# this is how it should look like :-)
# no extra {} and no extra spaces :-)
subject = "Treehouse loves {}".format(name)
