1,734 PointsFunctions, Variables, and Return Values
OK I am lost on this one. The exercise says this:
After your newly created returnValue function, create a new variable named echo. Set the value of echo to be the results from calling the returnValue function. When you call the returnValue function, make sure to pass in any string you'd like for the parameter.
The function will accept the string you pass to it and return it back (using the return statement). Then your echo variable will be set with what is returned, the results.
Here is my code:
function returnValue(dates) {
return dates;
}
var echo = returnValue();
returnValue('July 12, 1989');
The exercise module is saying that it's incorrect. However, when I test this exact code in the console, the console outputs the date I specified as the string.
One other thing. When I put "dates" as the return value parameter when assigning a value to echo, the console AND the exercise module say that's incorrect.
Where am I going wrong?
Thanks in advance to all who answers my question.

54,971 PointsThe challenge is asking you to call the function with your own argument for the parameter and store the results in a variable named echo. So this should work:
var echo = returnValue('July 12, 1989');
