FunFacts Background color won't change to RED. "Dynamically Changing the Background Color" video

In the 'Dynamically Changing the Background Color' video, I have performed all the steps and reviewed my code and for some reason I cannot get the background color to change to RED. It always remains green. I've tried rebuilding the app, closing/opening Android studio and restarting the emulator as well. It's getting very frustrating. Can anyone assist?
