FunFactsActivity error

As I'm following the steps for FunFactsActivity in the Android Studio I get to a point where I need to run the app, and i get a message in the Event Log that states...

EmptyThrowable: unable to locate adb within SDK.

and

Error running FunFactActivity: unable to obtain debug bridge.

please help as i would like to learn more and continue with the steps for learning how to build applications. thanks
