General question about Android

At the moment I'm using version control to keep backups of my Android projects at multiple locations.

I'm finding that I'm constantly finding required updates to the Gradle plugins or the build system itself which I then have to log as a commit.

I'm not sure if it's because projects are being upgraded from 2.0 to 3.0 or if it's just a hangover from moving to different locations.

Is this something I'm going to have to get used to or is there another way? :)
