Gradle build log gives me this error: "buildtools 24.0.2 requires Java 1.8 or above. Current JDK version is 1.7"

This error keeps popping up whenever I try to run my app.

"Error:A problem occurred configuring project ':app'.

Buildtools 24.0.2 requires Java 1.8 or above. Current JDK version is 1.7."

How can I fix this so my app will run? Do I need to upgrade to a different JDK version?

Hey Colby,

I've responded to this in a previous post, There are a few resources cited there that should be able to help you solve the issue.
