Guys what am I doing wrong?

Hello guys,

this code runs fine in workspace but in the assignment window it doesn't.

Can someone point me the right direction?

strlen.py
def just_right(string):

    if len(string) < 5:
          print("Your string is too short")
    elif len(string) > 5:
          print("Your string is too long")
    elif:
          return(True)

Hey Ion. Welcome to Treehouse.

There are a few things happening here:

  • First, the challenge wants you to return the strings and your are using print.

  • Second, the last elif statement should be an else. When you are done going through the possibles with elif the final "default" statement will always (and only) be an else statement.

  • Finally, the boolean value of False cannot be inclosed in parenthesis. By doing that, you are turning it into a value.

So, you are on the right track.

def just_right(string):

    if len(string) < 5:
          return "Your string is too short"
    elif len(string) > 5:
          return "Your string is too long"
    else:
          return True

Keep Coding! :)
