having issue with squaring a string

I believe that the except value down is the only problem of my code

    try:
        interger = int(string)
        if interger == True:
            square = interger ** 2
    except ValueError:
        duplicate = string * 2

fyi I was having the same issue (in case anyone one else has this issue in the future)

def squared(num):
  try:
    print(num*num)
    return int(num**num) 
  except TypeError:
    print(len(num)*num)
    return(len(num)*num)


squared(2)
squared("kittens")

Will work locally but not on the quiz. Using (num*num) causes a type error rather than an value error. Helped me learn the difference between TypeError and ValueError
