Python Python Basics (2015) Number Game App Squared

Having some trouble.

I have been stuck on this for a while now.

squared.py
def squared(num):
  try:
    if num == int():
      return (num ** 2)
  except ValueError:
      return (num * len("num"))

Hey Makan, very close..the challenge wants you to convert num to int(). To do so you have to pass the value num inside the int() function. Also in your exception you can remove the quotes around num because you want to take the length of any value passed as num not the literal string "num". Hope that helps!

def squared(num):
  try:
      return (int(num) ** 2)
  except ValueError:
      return (num * len(num))

Cheers!
