JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Creating Reusable Code with Functions Create a max() Function

Having trouble calling a function

I keep getting stuck on task 2 of creating a max() function.

script.js
function max (a, b) {
  if (a>b) {
    return a;
  } else {
    return b;
  }
}
alert( Math.random(3, 6) );

Hi Ellen,

The task is asking you to call the function you just made. The Math.random is only an example. So you would write:

function max (a, b) {
  if (a>b) {
    return a;
  } else {
    return b;
  }
}
alert(max(3, 6))

To call a function you just type the name and a pair of brackets! And if you have giving it any parameters ( the a and b, in this case ) you type those in the brackets.
