i do not get exactly what i have to change and i think the idea i have is a stupid one or i just may be missing something somewhere. i am kind of getting frustrated with coding already

It looks like you are trying to use the "@string/" method of changing a string, which is good practice, but not what this question is asking.
All it's asking for you to do is change the text to "Treehouse loves me!" instead of "I love Treehouse!" which is what was there before you changed it.
android:text="Treehouse loves me!"
This is known as hard-coding and is all that's needed for this exercise. Just write exactly what you want to say within quotes.
