The thing is you need to use format ,by assigning display_menu before menu itself.Try this

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes=available.split(";")
display_menu=", ".join(sundaes)
menu="Our available flavors are: {}.".format(display_menu)

You missed " at the end of the 4th line. Try this:

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white" sundaes= available.split(";") display_menu = ["banana, split, hot fudge, cherry, malted, black and white"] menu = "our available flavors are: {}".format(", ".join(display_menu))
