wordcount
# E.g. word_count("I do not like it Sam I Am") gets back a dictionary like:
# {'i': 2, 'do': 1, 'it': 1, 'sam': 1, 'like': 1, 'not': 1, 'am': 1}
# Lowercase the string to make it easier.
def word-count(**string):
return string.lower()

9,585 PointsFirst your function is not defined correctly, and the function should be pass a string.
def word_count(parse_string):
Then you will need to set a dictionary variable for your count. Next you will need to split the incoming string into single words.
dict_count = {}
word_split = parse_string.split()
Then you will need to loop through the word and count them. I do not believe I did this the best way, but it works.
for item in word_split:
try:
dict_count[item.lower()] += 1
except KeyError:
dict_count[item.lower()] = 1
And finally return the results.
return dict_count
