First, you need to use the .setText() method:

mPassengersField.setText();

Also, you can't cast an int to a String like that. The toString method is a feature of the Integer class, and thus only works with Integer objects, not with primitive ints.

You could solve this in a couple of ways. First, you could concatenate the integer value with on empty string:

"" + mSpaceship.getNumPassengers();

The other way is to cast the int to an Integer, and then apply the .toString() method:

((Integer)mSpaceship.getNumPassengers()).toString();
