Help with objective challenge

Needing assistance to figure out how to remove anything but integers from modified list. Not sure where my code is going wrong. Thanks in advance!

lists.py 
messy_list = ["a", 2, 3, 1, False, [1, 2, 3]]

# Your code goes below here
cleaner_list = messy_list.insert(0,messy_list.pop(3))
for item in cleaner_list:
    if item = int(item):
        pass
    else:
        cleaner_list.remove(item)

Took a year but I think I finally answered it with the help of a colleague and the community:

messy_list = ["a", 2, 3, 1, False, [1, 2, 3]]

Your code goes below here

first part of objective code

messy_list.insert(0,messy_list.pop(3))

create empty list for integer only assignment

cleaner_list = []

iterate through messy_list

for e in messy_list:

###remove from messy_list if type is NOT an integer
if type(e) != int:
    messy_list.remove(e)

###append to empty list if type IS an integer
else:
    cleaner_list.append(e)

reset messy_list to integer only cleaner_list

messy_list = cleaner_list
