Hi, I am unable to remove the action bar. i will give you the code that i used, lease look into it

to

<style name="AppTheme.AppBarOverlay" parent="ThemeOverlay.AppCompat.Dark.NoActionBar" />

Also, depending on which device you are using, you may have to remove the "android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar". This isn't quite the same thing as the action bar (it's a toolbar) but it puts a blue bar at the top of the screen, similar to the action bar.
