I write everything as tought, but it doesnt work. I checked many times and cannot find the mistake...

#gallery li:nth-child (3n+1) { clear: left; }

the problem is with your pseudo-class selector. (3n+1) will select every 3rd item, starting with the first one. 3(0)+1=1, 3(1)+4....

#gallery li:nth-of-type(4n){
clear: left;
}

That should do the trick

If gallery is an id name, your css selector should have # before it. I think you mistyped "gallery li" instead of "#gallery li".
