Hi, I'm getting this error message. "Bummer! The `userName` variable is "23188XTR" not "23188XTR#SMITH". "

What is the solution?

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";
var lastName = lastName.toUpperCase();
var userName = id.toUpperCase(); + "#" + lastName;
index.html
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
  <title>JavaScript Basics</title>

<body>
<script src="app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

Hi Bella, there's just a little syntax error in your code. You put a semi-colon in between your concatenation.

var userName = id.toUpperCase(); + "#" + lastName;

Delete it and you're good to go :)
