what is actually a hostname, httpbin.org is it a website or a server ? and do I need to access every website using some software like telnet?
Why do we need to access website in the terminal? I am having a really hard time understanding this course watched videos multiple time, am stuck and confused, any help would be appreciated.

231,269 PointsA hostname is an identifier that references a "host", which is the same thing as a "server". A server might be running software that creates a website, but not all servers have websites. But this course is mainly about servers that do.
You usually won't use telnet or other text-only tool to access a website, you will generally be using a browser instead, which is more sophisticated software that can handle video, audio, and photos as well as text.
