How come the added 1em padding doesn't push the content onto the next line?

I originally completed this challenge using the float method, however I think for intrinsic documentation purposes Guil's method is more understandable. I just can't understand how the padding doesn't push the content onto the next line considering each column is 50% wide plus added padding

Hi Bobby

The padding on the .col doesn't push it onto the next line is because in the style.css box-sizing: border-box is declared, which means the padding is not added to the width, it is included within the width .col class.
