How do I add the "#" symbol in between the Id and lastName variables?

isn't it +- "#";?

var userName = id+lastName.toUpperCase();

trying to combine the Id and lastName Variable with the # symbol in between all uppercase.

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase(); 

or you should write the code like this (because the # can't be converted to uppercase):

var userName = (id + '#' + lastName).toUpperCase();
