Python Basic Object-Oriented Python Welcome to OOP Adding to our Panda

How do I call the self.name value properly?

I'm spending way too much time playing around with adding/omitting 'self.name = 'Bao Bao'' , and even with the omitting of that line, the code 'return f'{self.name} eats {Panda.food}' does not work either. Please help assist. Thank you.

panda.py
class Panda:
    species = 'Ailuropoda melanoleuca'
    food = 'bamboo'

    def __init__(self, name, age):
        self.is_hungry = True
        self.name = name
        self.age = age

    def eat(self):
        self.is_hungry = False
        self.name = 'Bao Bao'
        return f'{self.name} eats {Panda.food}.'

Hey Neil Martin Orbase, you’re super close.

  • don’t assign name in the eat method. It is already available using self.name
  • the return string needs to use self.food not “Panda.food”

Post back if you need more help. Good luck!!!
