How do I change the color of a h1 heading from black to purple

I have changed a paragraph to a heading, now I am asked to change the color from black to purple, there is no code in styles.css to change

Hi Lance - you have missed the actual CSS selector for the H1 tag in your css, it should read:

h1 {
   color: purple;
}

Sam has the right idea. When targeting an html element with a CSS selector you use this syntax: 

html element { 
    style: properties;
