The console can be cleared by typing " clear " or by hitting ctrl+L, and if you close it you can open it by clicking on the "View" menu in the top of the workspace and select "Show Console"

If you are using IRB (The ruby REPL) you can clear it by typing " system 'clear' " or by hitting ctrl+L.
