Ruby Ruby Collections Build a Grocery List Program Method Returns with Hashes and Arrays

How do I create a hash with the keys and values here?

What am I doing wrong here? Thx for any help.

shopping_list.rb
def create_shopping_list
  hash = { "title" => Grocery List, "items"[] }
  return hash
end

1 Answer

One little minor problem :)

  • You forgot to put a rocket ship operator (the => operator) in between "items" and the empty array.

Try this code instead (I changed "hash" to "shopping_list", because it is a little more descriptive.):

def create_shopping_list
  grocery_list = { "title" => Grocery List, "items" => [] }
  return grocery_list
end

Good luck! ~Alex

Thanks, I knew it would be something simple I was overlooking. Thanks for the advice as well to use a more descriptive hash name.

Your welcome :)
