how do i echo a name to the screen into a code block

Rodney, just type echo and then variable name:

<?php
  $name = "Mike";
  echo $name;
?>

or you can use short open tags

<?php $name = "Mike"; ?>

<p>Name specified in variable is <?= $name; ?></p>

Instead of echo you can write print, but echo is faster.

In future, when you will work with arrays, you'll need functions as print_r() and var_dump()
