How do I find or know the port number that I need to use to FTP content to my site?

will e-mail be sent or will I need to contact the host? Using Filezilla.

Typically FTP uses port 21. If you plan to use SFTP or SSH you may have to contact your hosting provider to see if they accept this method and which port they use for that service.
