1,230 PointsHow do i make the code more efficient?
hi,
Would like to seek help on how to shorten the codes to be more efficient. Anyone able to help? Thank you so much!
# E.g. word_count("I do not like it Sam I Am") gets back a dictionary like:
# {'i': 2, 'do': 1, 'it': 1, 'sam': 1, 'like': 1, 'not': 1, 'am': 1}
# Lowercase the string to make it easier.
def word_count (arg):
lower_arg = arg.lower()
split_list = lower_arg.split()
counted_words = []
dictionary = {}
for word in split_list:
if word in counted_words:
continue
else:
dictionary.update({word : split_list.count(word)})
counted_words.append(word)
return dictionary
