Python Python Collections (2016, retired 2019) Dictionaries Teacher Stats

how do i make the function that will receve the total

help

teachers.py
# The dictionary will look something like:
# {'Andrew Chalkley': ['jQuery Basics', 'Node.js Basics'],
#  'Kenneth Love': ['Python Basics', 'Python Collections']}
#
# Each key will be a Teacher and the value will be a list of courses.
#
# Your code goes below here.
def num_teachers(teachers):
    count = 0
    for teacher in teachers:
        count += 1
    return count

def num_courses(teachers):

    total = 0

    for num_courses in teachers.items():
        total += 1
    return total

you can make a function named func_total and call it from the num_courses function and pass the total.

def num_teachers(teachers):

    count = 0
    for teacher in teachers:
        count += 1
    return count

def num_courses(teachers):

    total = 0
    for num_courses in teachers.items():
        total += 1
    return total

def total_1(total):

    peint(total)

def total_2():

    total = num_courses(teachers)
    print(total)

There is a syntax error in using teachers.items(). The items() method returns both the key and the value for each dictionary entry. Perhaps you wished to use the values() method to get the list of each teachers courses.

You can then use the len() function to get the number of courses for each teacher and add that to total.

Post back if you have more questions. Good luck!!
