You have to combine the function with the actual name of the list (states) and the value of the element you'd like to remove (5). i.e.: try replacing "my_list.remove([5])" with states.remove(5):

states = [
    'ACTIVE',
    ['red', 'green', 'blue'],
    'CANCELLED',
    'FINISHED',
    5,
]
states.remove(5)

states.remove(5)  # change 'my_list' to 'states'

It still says wrong, these are the instructions: Ugh, I made this list and now it has some invalid pieces in it. Maybe you can help me clean it up. Use the .remove() method to remove the last item from the list, please.

Have you tried the code I listed above? Your code was missing a closing bracket and had the wrong list name.
