How do I use .remove?

I'm trying to remove the last item in the list, but I can't figuure out how.

lists.py
states = [
    'ACTIVE',
    ['red', 'green', 'blue'].remove("blue"),
    'CANCELLED',
    'FINISHED',
    5,
]
