How do I use ValueError and a try block?

I cannot figure out how to answer the challenge that asks me to use a try block and except ValueError statement.

    # the code which may fail  
except ValueError:  
    print("Message to user regarding error")  
else:  
   # the code that runs when the try block passes

This is what I have:

def add(one , two): try: sum = float(one) + float(two) except ValueError: return 'None' else: return sum

This is what I have:

def add(one , two): 
  try: 
    sum = float(one) + float(two) 
  except ValueError: 
    return None 
  else: 
    return sum
