37,259 PointsHow do you say SQL?
Just wondering if I'm alone in wanting to say "squirrel" for SQL instead of "sequel"? "My squirrel" seems much more fun.

So, SQL = Squirrel is a good analogy of the term, or is it? . The squirrel may be thinking 'now, that nut will grow up to be a great hidden database'..

37,259 PointsI've never heard anyone ever use it either and I've been using SQL for several years, just the way I see the letters s,q,l. :) Have to force myself to say "sequel" or "S.Q.L." if I want to discuss it with others. Was just hoping I wasn't the only weirdo out there.

16,261 PointsI've never heard squirrel, but I usually say S-Q-L or sequel. I suppose it's just personal preference as long as people understand what you mean.

4,081 PointsDepends on who you ask. MySQL says "The official way to pronounce “MySQL” is “My Ess Que Ell” (not “my sequel”), but we do not mind if you pronounce it as “my sequel” or in some other localized way." Microsoft (per a commercial I heard the other day) says "Sequel Server" (for SQL Server). It was originally SPELLED as SEQUEL, for "Structured English Query Language", but SEQUEL was trademarked, so... I tend to use SEQUEL since that was the original "spirit" of the acronym.
However, I still *think of it as "SQUALL", since I learned by reading, and none of the books I read ever mentioned the proper pronunciation. I figure it'll always be "SQUALL" to me :)

We will use apps to save our word. Flappy birds in air as new birds. Cars from gta as new cars. SQL as new squirrel with database on thier trees having all the info about everyone .
When people say SQL , i often cant understand then coz everyone say it in different way and im thinking, what is he saying? : p
