How to add .format to string?

I watched the video concerning .format twice. I am not sure how to add the .format to the string "Treehouse loves"

Is it not:

subject = "Treehouse loves {}"

strings.py
name = "Michael"

subject = "treehouse loves {name}" 
name = "Michael"

subject = "treehouse loves {}".format(name)

There is a time that you would put {name}, it would look like this

name = "Michael"

subject = "treehouse loves {name}".format(name="Michael") 

but that's not what this challenge is looking for, I don't think
