maybe something i missed awhile back haha... but how do i bring my file into the python shell without having to type out file name. i see him type python.. then shopping_list3 pops right up.... where i have been typing out the name of the file everytime i want to run?

231,236 PointsWhat you're probably seeing is command completion. The instructor is probably typing in the first letter or two of the file name and then pressing the TAB button to have the shell fill in the rest of the name.
Not that this only works when you've typed enough of the name to uniquely identify it from any other files.
