start with:

    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
      <nav>
        <ul>
        </ul>
      </nav>
    </header>

nav and ul, require closing tags, and ul (here at least) should be nested inside nav.

For the part of the code theyre looking for it should look like this:

<header> <a href="index.html" > <nav> <ul></ul>
</nav> <h1>Nick Pettit</h1> <h2>Designer</h2> </a> </header>
