how to estimate the appropriate width, margin or padding values?

In the how to make your website stage when you are assigning values to the elements like margin or padding, how can one correctly estimate what the value will look like on the page or how should one decide what value to put in terms of pixels?

Hi Raghav!

Margins and paddings are there to do nice layouts and visual looks. And you're the designer who decides what looks good or bad. There is no exact values you should put each time. You always put the values which look and work the best for the exact situation.

When you do web design for a little time you'll get a good hang of which might look good and work nicely. Just put a value you think works best and then you refresh your browser. If it looks bad you replace the value with something else. It's all about the experimenting and the look you're trying to achieve.

Hope this text helps.

No problem! Well I had a pretty nice knowledge about css and html even before I got here. I just felt like I had little parts missing here and there. So I started a track about html and css and I pretty much watched videos on 1.5x - 2x speed because I knew the stuff already. Now I'm learning JavaScript and JQuery and next will be PHP. So I think the reason why I have so much points in a such a short time is that I've watched videos such a high speed.
