how to make A to Z list of data?

I would like to display a list of my data from my DB in the following way.

A aan aboard ac... ad... B banaan baz... be.... C .... D ....

do I need need 26 querys per letter? Or is it possible with 1 query?

query I use now is:

    $sql = "SELECT * FROM `whiskey` WHERE `naam` != '' ORDER BY `naam` Asc LIMIT :limit";
