to call a function, you just write the name of the function, followed by parenthesis, and save the return in the variable 'getYear':

var yearToday = getYear();

Practice always helps! I wasn't exactly a beginner when I found Treehouse, but it has been great at presenting new approaches to solving problems.

Treehouse should just be a starting point - look things up and just try making things to really learn.
